Newsflash from our partner Maastricht University:

On 30 August, the first cohort of FSE Circular Engineering students met their fellow peers during the programme’s introduction day. 21 students from all over the world gathered in Maastricht to start their journey together to become the ‘engineer of the future’.

A warm word of welcome by Thomas Cleij kicked off the introduction day, followed by a presentation by FSE’s Office of Student Affairs and Gavin Philips: the new programme director who will start on 01 November.  After getting acquainted with the principles behind Problem-Based Learning during an interactive presentation by Stefan Jongen, students were asked to put those principles into practice during a PBL-simulation. As tutors, Robin Schormans and Hanne Diliën were impressed with the ease and enthusiasm by which students navigated their very first PBL-discussion, boding well for the future of the new programme.

Members of OSA joined the young engineers for a tour of the city and UM facilities by means of small games at various locations, after which the day was brought to a closing with a tasty barbecue at Chalêt Bergrust.

A special thanks to all members of staff and especially OSA who made the introduction day possible and a success!
