Transition scenarios and system integration

The transition to an entirely carbon-neutral site by 2050 depends strongly on rapidly changing external factors. The program line Transition scenarios and system integration towards 2030-2050 focusses on the dilemma’s, hurdles and risks on one hand, and site- or cross site societal synergies and new opportunities on the other hand.

We are also looking at the associated main challenges, which are methodology development, sensitivity assessments based on outlooks, the development of integral transition pathways and providing insights for stakeholders.

Greenhouse gas reduction by implementing the most cost-effective measures while ensuring production

The future outlook is that Chemelot has met the national goals for greenhouse gas reduction by implementing the most cost-effective measures while ensuring production. In 2050 Chemelot is entirely carbon-neutral, based on an optimal transition pathway.
