Over the past five years, Brightsite has established itself as a valued partner in the transition of the chemical process industry. Now, it is time for the next phase, in which Brightsite aims to refine its proposition and prepare for further growth. This new phase includes a new program designed to shape initiatives that will contribute to transforming the chemical industry.
A Milestone Celebration and Looking Ahead
“We have achieved a great deal over the past five years, and we celebrated this together during the Brightsite Connaction Event on November 20, 2024. The Province of Limburg has played a crucial role in Brightsite’s success during these initial years. Thanks to their support, we have developed into a knowledge hub that not only generates ideas but also takes action through a combination of fundamental, applied, and experimental research running in parallel—something unique in the Netherlands,” says Arnold Stokking, Managing Director of Brightsite.
In addition to reflecting on the first five years, the event also looked ahead to the future. The Brightsite Transition Outlook 2024 was presented, and a new collaboration agreement was signed for the period 2025-2029. Core partners Sitech, TNO, Maastricht University (UM), and Brightlands Chemelot Campus reaffirmed their commitment with an official signing. Stokking adds, “We can realize our ambitions thanks to the support of Brightsite partners, various participating companies, and project funding.”
A New Phase, A New Program
“Brightsite is now entering a new phase, and with it comes a new program. The goal remains to support and accelerate the transition of the chemical industry—particularly at Chemelot—towards renewable energy and raw materials. In this new program, we are shifting from program lines to multiple interconnected transitions: System Transition, Carbon Transition, Water Transition, Digital Transition, and Human Resources Transition. The program consists of core themes and growth areas, structured within these transitions. The core programs build on previous program lines and the knowledge gained in recent years. The growth areas introduce new topics considered highly relevant and promising. This unique program highlights how knowledge institutions, in collaboration with businesses, contribute to industrial transformation,” Stokking emphasizes.
Further details on the transition lines and next steps within the programs will be announced soon. Stay updated on the latest developments.
