British researchers have shown that industrial CO2 emissions could be reduced by 85% using current and emerging technologies like hydrogen, electrification, and carbon capture. The study, from the University of Leeds and published in Joule, points out that costs and infrastructure are major hurdles, with sustainable energy solutions being notably more expensive than fossil fuels, and the lack of CO2 transport facilities slowing progress.
